With the recent housing boom, people have been on the move. Unfortunately, complaints by consumers against moving companies have also been rising. Here are a few tips and advice to take while looking for the right moving company.

Binding Estimate
Your initital quote over the phone or Internet will be non-binding. However, once the movers get to your property, ask them for a binding estimate on paper that is signed. This says your total will not go over a certain amount. If they refuse, choose another company.

Check Filed Complaints
Check with your local Better Business Bureau or other local consumer complaint websites to see if there are any major complaints against the moving companies.

Stories and Stairs
Let the moving company know up front if you have stairs and how many stories your new home has.
